    Brow/Forehead Lift Procedure Steps

    Model, not actual patient.

Over the years, there has been considerable advancement in the realm of brow lift / forehead lift cosmetic surgery. With techniques such as advanced endoscopy and limited incision forehead lift, the procedure is becoming less invasive with only a few short incisions involved in your forehead and hair-bearing scalp.

Before your procedure, you will have a pre-op consultation with your surgeon wherein you will be given the details about your procedure. This way, you will feel more confident while making decisions. It is recommended to ask questions during this session to have a better idea as to what a brow lift procedure pertains to.

Board certified ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Dr. Tanya Khan provides brow lift / forehead lift surgery to patients in Plano, Dallas, Texas and surrounding locations.

    Open brow lift

While assessing your candidacy, if your surgeon finds the need for a significant tissue modification, they will recommend an open surgery to you. In this procedure, you will be first administered local or general anesthesia. Once you respond positively to it, your surgeon will create a horizontal incision along your forehead, either through your hairline or in your natural forehead crease. This will reduce the visibility of your scars.

Excess fat will be removed through the incision and loose underlying muscles will be tightened. Your surgeon will then trim away the loose skin and pull the remaining skin taut. Subsequently, they will place the brow with deep sutures, giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated facial look.

    Endoscopic brow lift

An endoscopic forehead lift is less invasive and is often performed using local anesthesia. The procedure starts with small incisions in the pre-planned sites. Then, through this incision, an endoscopic camera is inserted.

Using this camera, your surgeon will see the underlying forehead structure to perform a precise and targeted lifting. Compared to an open forehead lift, the incisions will be smaller in this case. As a result of which, your recovery period may be relatively shorter.

    Limited incision brow lift

This is a hybrid procedure that amalgamates both the open and endoscopic forehead lift. Initially, small incisions are placed in the temporal hairline without using an endoscope. To clarify, this procedure will not be effective if you are looking to correct the central part of your brow. However, it works well to mitigate aging lines around the corner of your eyes, which are called “crow’s feet”.

The kind of forehead lift will be planned by your surgeon during your pre-op consultation. The procedure will depend on your unique facial anatomy and personal aesthetic goals.

    Combined surgery

If brow lift surgery is performed in conjunction with another surgery, then the steps will have to be adjusted. To have a natural-looking outcome, conditions such as drooping brows, and sagging upper eyelid should be duly addressed.

For better results, a customized approach is preferred by taking into account all of your personal aesthetic needs. This includes your preference for hairline and hairstyle.
