Neurotoxin – Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®
Repetitive muscle contraction in the face can lead to the development of unsightly wrinkles (rhytids). Some wrinkles appear only during active facial expression (dynamic rhytids), while others remain at rest (static rhytids). To soften the appearance of wrinkles above the brows, along the forehead, and at the crow’s feet, botulinum toxin can be injected at these regions. Patients who suffer from uncontrolled spasmodic contractions of the eyelid (benign essential blepharospasm) and facial musculature (hemifacial spasm) can also benefit from regular injections of botulinum toxin.
